Announcements
The Hanson Water Department will begin hydrant flushing on or about September 21, 2015.~ Work will be scheduled Monday through Thursday between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and midnight.~ Hydrant flushing is done to remove iron and manganese deposits that collect on the walls of the water mains.~ There may be some discoloration of the water as a result of this flushing.~ The discoloration does not make water unsafe to drink but it could discolor laundry and/or plumbing fixtures.~ Similarly, when air bubbles enter the water system during the hydrant flushing, they may cause cloudiness in drinking water.~ If discoloration or air bubbles appear in the water, run cold water in a bathtub for a few minutes until the water and/or air bubbles clear up. If the water does not clear up within about 5 minutes, customers are asked to
contact the Hanson Water Department 781-447-1200.~ We apologize for any inconvenience you may experience.~ ~~
Hanson Public Library Foundation will be holding its 4th Annual Wine Tasting on Monday, Sept. 21st from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Old Hitching Post Restaurant located at 48 Spring Street. Tickets are $25.00 and can be purchased at the Library or the Old Hitching Post. For more information please contact the Library at 781-293-2151.
The Treasurer/Collector’s Office will be closed on Friday, September 25th, October 2nd and October 9th. Please plan your business accordingly.
Reminder that dog licenses are due September 30th.
October Special Town Meeting is Monday, October 5th at 7:30 p.m. at the Hanson Middle School. A quorum of 100 registered voters is required.
Hanson Food Pantry is seeking auction items for the Pack the Pantry Auction to be held on Friday, October 9th at Meadowbrook Restaurant. They are accepting collectibles,~home decor, household items, furniture in new or nearly new condition. (No mattresses and couches), gift certificates, gift baskets, etc. To arrange item pick up or for more information, please contact Laura FitzGerald-Kemmett at (781)294-1261.~
